Before you started your own business and were working for someone else, there were days that you took off, not because you were sick, but you just felt the need to have a “mental health” day. Am I right?
Well, now that you have your own business, how many times do you do the same thing? Just take a day off, not to work on your business, but just relax and not think about anything?
Those days are still as important as ever. With the constant barrage of running a business, dealing with clients, prioritizing your time between kids, your spouse and even yourself, it’s more important than ever to take those “mental health” days.
Grab a book, go for a walk, watch a movie, anything. The point is to get your mind off of the everyday stuff and just take some time for “you”.
You, and your state of well-being is most important in life and when you are feeling energized, you can be your best for everyone else – whether it’s family, your business, your clients, or your friends.
My suggestion is to schedule in your mental health days at least once a month. If you’ve had a particularly rough week, make sure you schedule in a couple extra hours, just for you.
My favorite things to do to unwind and get refreshed are to take a walk while listening to my favorite tunes, get lost in a fictional book or watch a sci-fi or chick flick. 🙂
So, how about you? What do you like doing in your down time to revive your mental health? Please share below in the comments!
